A screen printed cap should be reviewed through ink on the proposed fabric, followed by the completed cap. Screen artwork and a digital colour reference can start the discussion, but they do not settle coverage, hand feel or the appearance around a crown seam. Keep those decisions in the physical proof.
Use the custom trucker hat guide to define the base cap, then use this checklist for the decoration decision.

Identify what is being printed and when
Confirm whether the proposal prints a panel before sewing or decorates the assembled cap. Name the fabric, shade, finish and intended print area. If the quote instead uses a screen-printed transfer, identify that separate component and its heat-application route.
Mark the artwork size, colours, registration features and any areas where fabric should remain visible. Identify the letters or edges that matter most to recognition. A small actual-size proof is more useful than evaluating only an enlarged screen image.
Select the ink route for the actual substrate
CottonWorks’ textile printing resource provides broader background on textile printing methods and their relationship to fabric and colourants. It is useful context for the discussion; the chosen ink supplier’s instructions and actual cap sample must resolve the proposed production route.
Record the selected ink system and the applicable preparation and curing requirements. Ask which fabric treatment or base shade may affect the result. Keep any underbase or special-effect layer in the specification rather than treating it as an invisible operator choice.
Approve colour, coverage and registration together
Review ink on the selected cloth for the intended colour, edge clarity, coverage and feel. Keep the proof version with the artwork and material reference. If multiple colours meet, review their alignment and the effect of any gaps or overlaps at actual size.
Then check the print on the completed crown. Look at seam interruptions, apparent centring, visor clearance and the full wearing view. Record a proposed change in graphic position or panel construction before approving a proof that belongs to a different layout.
| Check | Reference to retain |
|---|---|
| Route | Panel or finished-cap print; separate transfer if proposed |
| Artwork | Actual size, colour separations and registration features |
| Ink | Selected system and applicable preparation/cure instructions |
| Proof | Accepted colour, coverage, edges and hand feel |
| Complete cap | Placement, seam appearance and released production reference |
Keep the accepted proof connected to production
Use the printing method comparison if another route better fits the design or construction. A method change needs its own physical proof and applicable instructions rather than automatic approval from the earlier colour rendering.
Retain the released artwork, fabric, ink reference, process requirements and complete cap. Agree the relevant inspection and care evidence for the order. Keep deviations and substitute inputs visible so repeat-order decisions can refer to the actual product previously accepted.
Discuss the proposed construction through the related cap product page. Send the artwork, cap reference, quantity breakdown and open questions through Contact Wenext Caps so the next sample or proposal addresses the actual requirement.
